Internet Marketing Strategies for Non Profit Organizations

The most popular Internet marketing strategy that exists in the world today is referred to as social media marketing. It consists of many different promotional variables such as; person to person marketing, video and brand marketing, use of online forums and discussions, content distribution and interaction within various Interest groups.

Social media Internet marketing strategy received its’ popularity as a result of the following factors:

  • Social media involves using open communication between an organization and the clients who are interested in it.
  • It allows for clients and individuals to publicly evaluate an organizations overall performance.
  • Its’ impact can reach a global marketplace.
  • It takes minimum effort or cost on the part of the organization to implement. In fact, the only thing that you need in order to implement it, is some social media knowledge.
  • Many of its components can be done for free.
  • The progress and result of the Internet marketing strategy can be measured or evaluated almost instantaneously.

It is the proverbial “paradise” for non profit organizations, yet there seems to be an unwillingness on the part of many non profit organizations to benefit from this type of low cost Internet marketing strategy. This is a huge error on the part of the organization because social media can and does help considerably.

Consequently, it also provides the agency with access to many free and valuable resources that they may in fact be missing out on benefiting from.

There are several reasons that may prevent non profit agencies from jumping on the Internet marketing strategy bandwagon and some of them may be legitimate.

Often agencies may feel that the Internet is an unsafe haven for its clients and many have little or knowledge of the true value of social media. In either case, the agency is not using its available online resources effectively.

You can implement social media in a safe and secure way if you do so with proper guidance and techniques. The misconception that the Internet is unsafe is based on fear of the unknown and improper use of tools and resources. The fact is, social media is becoming an integral part of our everyday lifestyle and agencies must begin to adopt this new lifestyle into its operations or risk being left behind.

In order to begin to have an effective Internet marketing strategy, an agency must first begin to use its on line resources more effectively.

Is it not common knowledge that the success of any agency depends on its ability to use all of its current resources effectively? The Internet is no exception to this rule.

So how does an agency begin to implement an effective Internet marketing strategy?

It begins with some knowledge and research on the part of the agency. You should and probably never would jump into a river or lake without first making sure it is safe to do so,the same principles apply here.

You must first secure your computer network system by implementing online safety procedures before proceeding to the next step. That means using security software and creating agency security procedures and protocols. For example; if your agency has a youth section you may want to deny access to programs such as online chat-rooms.

Once a secure base is created within the non profit agency, the rest is easy.

  1. The agency must decide how the Internet can best benefit its particular needs and set goals and objectives for what they wish to accomplish with the implementation of this new Internet marketing strategy.
  2. The agency should find people within the organization who have some knowledge in social media or at the very least the ability to comprehend it. The agency should encourage them to work towards developing an agency marketing plan. It is highly recommended that the agency use at least one professional social media manager to assist in developing this plan.
  3. The agency should begin to seek out online resources that offer free training and tools that will help guide them in the right direction to achieving this marketing plan. The use of a social media manager will be effective in this step because they will already have knowledge of these resources on hand, thus saving the agency valuable time and effort.

Once the agency has a clearer view of their own needs and resources, it is easier to begin to implement the Internet marketing strategy.

An example of a good online strategy involves creating a website or Facebook fan page where your clients can meet on a daily basis to discuss current issues that effect them. It should consist of various videos promoting your agency and its activities. Your agency should be actively involved in writing content and blogs for various online article and social media platforms.

To be most effective, your agency should have its’ very own WordPress or similar blog that will inform your clients of current events within the agency or any other information that you wish to share with them.

All of these factors combined create a basic or minimum recommended social media strategy. The goal of the strategy is to aid the non profit agency by spreading the word about the agency and promote its online popularity. This popularity can and does translate into a considerable amount of online donations and access to free resources from outside sources that your agency did not have prior access or use thereof.

Resources such as: free publicity, online donation collection from popular mobile applications like “fund it” and instant access to information and potential clients and volunteers.

You can implement social media on a small scale and it would literally involve only a few hours per week. This is a good starting point for many non profit organizations. Eventually, you may wish to create a bigger and more stable Internet marketing strategy that could involve possibly hiring a social media company to implement. It literally depends on each individual agencies goals and objectives.

Do not think you can hire a company to do this for your organization so you do not have to? Think again, the cost for a social media company to implement this type of Internet marketing strategy on behalf of your agency costs considerably less than what you have already budgeted for your marketing at the current moment. The more you know, the more you will be able to grow!

Internet Marketing For Real Estate, a Successful Online Marketing Plan

As a real estate agent, why do I need an internet marketing plan anyway? Is it really an important key to the future success of my real estate business? Maybe you’ve heard other agents complain that their website just doesn’t produce any results. Mine didn’t either, that’s because most websites leave out one super important feature of a successful online marketing plan, the strategy itself! (No I’m not a real estate website salesman) In fact, being online is crucial to your business success if you are plan on staying in business for the long-term. The problem is most people know nothing about successful internet marketing.

Real quick note: Before starting any online strategy, you must know that there are two different but equally as important parts to a successful online plan.

  1. SEO. Search Engine Optimization. On page and off page.
  2. Online Marketing. The touchy-feelies, call to action, etc.

In short, SEO gets you in front of the prospect and online marketing determines if the prospect likes you or not.

We must revamp our real estate marketing plan to include the internet, especially with all the new technology and opportunities available to us online. You know as well as I that we really don’t have the option to “opt out” of this one. The internet is here to stay and our ways of doing business certainly have, and will continue changing as the Web continues to grow and becomes even more the “primary” way people transact and exchange information.

The question is have you noticed? If you answered no, you might be one of the few brokers left who are still convinced that this “internet” thing-a-ma-jigy will just go away…someday, if you wish hard enough.

On the other hand, though, you may have conceded to the fact that you do need a solid web-based real estate marketing plan but you don’t know where to start. You don’t want to get suckered into a “guru program” and spend a bunch of money only to find yourself with the same terrible results that your old canned website produced. Again, a website is not adequate in itself to produce any measurable results and is not internet marketing or SEO. I break down the differences of online marketing and SEO in another article.

When it comes to online technology and internet strategies do you feel like you’re in the middle of the movie, The Matrix, where everything seems to be a bunch of meaningless green letters and symbols just floating across the screen? (it makes sense if you’ve actually seen the movie) My point is you feel lost. If you do, its important to understand that you don’t need to know any of that techie stuff to learn to do what I and other successful real estate agents do to succeed online. You might be encouraged to know that many brokers who start learning the techniques I’m talking about are anything but tech-savvy. Some are even strangers to browsing and email.

Now, I don’t consider myself a super wiz kid or anything when it comes to technology either, but when it comes to SEO and online marketing…that I can do. So you might be thinking to yourself; okay Mr. Smartypants, why don’t you just tell us how to do everything you do so we all can have an effective online marketing strategy too…right now? I’d love to, but truthfully, it takes more hands on than just reading one simple article to learn how to put the pieces together and work. Instead, I think I’ll start with some of the things that you don’t need to understand to kick- start your new agent success plan.

You don’t need to:

  • Understand the Google and other search engine algorithms.
  • You don’t need to know how to write computer language.
  • You don’t need to consider yourself a pro at the internet.
  • You don’t need to be “tech” savvy. Some students are even new to email and browsing!
  • You don’t need to pay a guru for their help. They usually charge you too much anyway.

Knowing the need and understanding the benefits and success potential you could have with a solid internet marketing plan, you just need to decide how you are going to learn the nuts and bolts, strategy, techniques, needed to take your business success to the next level. Because I wanted to collapse time frames and get moving quickly, I chose to hire a private mentor to coach to train me. Or, you can read books, research web articles and spend the next year or two trying to figure it out.

There are many different techniques you could learn to attack the market online, but my suggestion is to learn 3 or 4 to start. That way, you won’t get exhausted, overwhelmed, and give up. I believe it is very important to start like I did:

  1. Get a mentor or training system
  2. Learn a few powerful and proven techniques and master them quickly.
  3. Get an auto-responder system (like AWeber)
  4. Start seeing results in 6-8 weeks with diligence.

What kind of results? Well, what is our goal with any marketing plan? Leads, or better yet, FREE inbound buyer and seller leads! This is the reward for any well thought out and targeted marketing plan, whether it’s offline or online. The main purpose of an internet strategy is to create a system for free inbound leads where prospects contact you for your real estate services. I’d say this is a much better (and rewarding) plan than spending hundreds of dollars on postcards, mailers, and print advertising where you get one (hopeful) bang for your buck, then it’s over. As a matter of fact, the techniques I use are free, and once I create an internet sales funnel (or pipeline), it keeps working for me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! I don’t know about you, but if I can find massive success online through free techniques, I’m all in.

Here are some of my favorite internet marketing techniques:

  • Blogs and share blogs
  • Video marketing
  • Article marketing
  • Social media

You see, that doesn’t sound too hard right? The key is to master the methods, techniques, and strategies that will boost you in the search engine results and not risk identifying your content as spam. This is where search engine optimization (SEO) comes into play. This is also why I recommend reading my article about SEO and Internet Marketing.

SEO and Internet Marketing Strategies – Part Two

SEO and Internet Marketing are very important because they attract many people to your website which translates to increased sales. As much as SEO and internet marketing go hand in hand they are very different and one should not be confused with the other. Search engine optimization (SEO) can be defined as a program that makes your website more visible than other websites. It does this by getting you good rankings and attracting search engines using keywords. Internet marketing on the other hand, involves using the internet to advertise and do promotion of internet business.

The difference between search engine optimization (SEO) and internet marketing is that search engine optimization is the technical side of marketing while internet marketing involves a human being. Internet marketing promotes your website or business. Enlist the services of professionals to do internet marketing for you. This way, your ranking in SEO pages will increase.

The success of search engine optimization depends on things like keyword density, linking, content relevancy, and website organization, among other things. Internet marketing uses things like article marketing, sales copy, video marketing, social media, forums and content creation. SEO is cheaper than internet marketing because internet marketing needs one to do a lot of research, incur expenses and hire and pay experts.

Search engine optimization uses on-page and off-page optimization. With on-page optimization you choose the techniques you will use on your website. On page optimization involves the following activities: keyword research, Meta tags, title tag, website structure, body text and content. As for off-page optimization you try techniques to get your site referred by other website owners. Off-page optimization involves the following activities: forum posting, promotion using social media, article directories, social book marking, and press releases just to mention a few.

SEO companies use robots to get information on their competition. Types of robots used are web ants, spiders and worms. Robots are also used to index websites. SEO is the best strategy that can be used for internet marketing.

Improving your SEO using internet marketing

Advertising makes you reach out to existing and potential customers by making your products more visible. Potential clients will be able to discover your products when they see and read your advertisements. Boost your overall rankings by using the SEO so that you can be on the first page when users search for something. Being on the first page is advantageous as many people will view your pages and read your articles.

Pay per click advertising – Search engines use pay per click models when advertising whereby advertisers only pay when the visitors click on the adverts. As a web owner you should design your website to attract high search engine rankings. A good way of doing this is by leaving space for advertisers to advertise on your website.

The advantages of SEO and internet marketing is that it lets you be ahead of everyone else by improving your page rankings, gives improved search results because of keywords and increases traffic to your website. Another advantage of SEO internet marketing is that it is cheap and anyone can use it to improve their rankings.

How to make SEO work better for you

SEO has the following elements: keyword research, your writing, inbound links, creating a buzz and development.

Keyword research – you should know how to choose and use the right keywords in your articles.

Writing – write context that is educative and will be capable of attracting new readers to your page. Your readers will appreciate you teaching them something new every day.

Inbound links – having links to your website will increase your popularity and search engines will be attracted to your website.

Creating a buzz – take advantage of the social networking sites to promote your services and website.

Development – your site must be properly constructed to entice many people and get them to keep coming back again for more. A good design and content that is important and up to date will make people come to your website. The more people visit your website the more sales you get.

Importance of SEO in marketing

Write articles about your products and submit them to article submission sites and put links in the articles to your website. In so doing, everyone who reads your articles will be able to go to your website using the links.

Forums and social networking sites help you in promoting your website and services. Make a point of discussing your services on forums online and let people know where and how they can get them.
